LGBTQ+ Seniors
The literature project
- There is very little literature describing the experiences of LGBT+ people in post-retirement. Yes, people write about their experiences of the past, but very little about their experiences of being LGBT+ aged 70 and beyond
- Why is this? Perhaps no one thinks it would be interesting? Perhaps those who lived through legalization, beginning of Pride, Aids, adopting the term ‘Queer’, now feel the present time is not so interesting.
- However, if the experience of senior LGBTQ+ is not known to the world, then it is difficult for others to provide for needs.
- This is why LGBT Seniors are exploring a literature project
- The literature project would invite LGBT Seniors to share their experiences of the here and now, in transcribed audio, or submitted text, which would be edited and collated into a document or book which can be made available as a source for Service Providers who want to know the issues facing later life LGBTQ+
- This would be accompanied by research into existing literature, and making it known where appropriate
- If you would like to offer your experiences of what it is like living as LGBTQ+ in your later years, then please make contact using the contacts below.
